Love Speaking With Girls?
I absolutely do! And, I share the reasons here.
I am often asked why I would rather spend time with girls… or young women… than go have lunch/dinner in some palatial home (turned down a number of these and the folks can’t believe it) or treat myself to a truly fine, exquisite dining with friends. Or why I would oblige to speak at an event even though I have had either the shortest notice or a remarkably long day.
So, I thought I might share the reasons. I want them…
- to see someone with a physique like theirs… #RepresentationMatters;
- to hear the voice of one, who may have had a similar background, childhood, speech disorder, weakness;
- to know the story of the #BlackGirlEngineer that got curious about her world and chose to challenge, regardless of the implicit bias(es), discrimination or rejection she faced;

- to rise with passion and knowledge to follow their dreams;
- to develop the confidence and grit to become all that GOD created them to be;
- to thrive whilst serving their gifts to the world with courage, purpose and sparkle.
And, when they blurt out the words, I want to be like (Aunty) Mervin, to their parents/peers/partners, then I know that my mission was accomplished.
Oh, what unspeakable joy fills my soul! And, oh, how the FATHER gets all the praise and glory!
